Austrian National Prize Nomination for Wintersteiger AG
Machine Constructor Among Top Six in Product Design
On October 22 the Austrian National Prize for "Design 2009" was awarded for the 38th time in the Museum Quarter, Vienna. In front of several hundred guests, State Secretary Christine Marek recognised Austria's creative industries for their services. The Austrian National Prize 2009 is awarded in a total of three different categories. WINTERSTEIGER was nominated in the category "Product Design of Investment Goods" and thus achieved a place among the top six.
Wintersteiger has been working on a new international corporate design for three years. A completely new look, called Corporate Design, has been implemented consistently during this time. This work is already paying off for Markus Piber, Managing Director of Wintersteiger AG, who said, "We have achieved an excellent market response with the new corporate image; nomination for the Austrian National Prize is a perfect finale and also confirmation that we placed our trust in the right partners."
Artindustrial, a communications agency from Wels, guided Wintersteiger during the process. Wintersteiger together with Artindustrial focused on cooperation with Valentinitsch Design from Vienna in the field of industrial design. "It was clear to all of us that we would also have to take the colour and design vocabulary of our machines into consideration during the changeover. They carry our corporate values and as a result are part of our communication strategy," said Piber about the importance of the industrial design.
None of those involved were upset that they got no further than nomination in the end and were not allowed to take home a National Prize. Mag. Kurt Kaufmann, Managing Director of Artindustrial, said, "The nomination itself was already an honour for us and recognised the work put in by Valentinitsch Design and ourselves. Perhaps we'll be successful on the next attempt."
The Austrian National Prize is awarded every two years by Design Austria and the Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth. The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture additionally awards the "Advancement Prize for Experimental Design". This year 151 designers submitted a total of 206 projects for assessment. The purpose of the Austrian National Prize and the Advancement Prize is to acknowledge creative achievements with a recognised award and to unlock new development and expansion potential for the design industry.
